ITV viewers have fumed at the channel for 'ruining' King Charles' coronation today with an epic blunder.
The King was crowned today alongside Queen Camilla, with his family including the Prince and Princess of Wales and Prince Harry all in attendance at Westminster Abbey for the ceremony. It was broadcasted across channels including ITV, but some viewers took to social media to fume over what happened during the pledging of allegiance.
During the ceremony, people were invited by the Archbishop of Canterbury to pledge allegiance to the King if they wished to by saying: "I swear that I will pay true allegiance to Your Majesty, and to your heirs and successors according to law. So help me God."
As the allegiance took place, the presenter for ITV announced that people could join in, and added: "The Archbishop invites all who so desire to pay homage. The words will be on the screen."
However, the words were not shown on screen as promised, leaving viewers "fuming".
Angry viewers rushed to social media to fume over the blunder.
One wrote: "And there was me, ready to pledge my allegiance to the King, and @ITV failed to put the words up on the screen. Thanks #ITV for ruining it for the millions of us who were watching and wanting to do that!!!"
"@itvnews @ITV#Coronation … 'pledge allegiance to the King, the words will be on screen' …. Except they weren’t! #fuming Epic fail @itv," another added, as a third penned: " @ITV well you messed up the Coronation with not putting the oath words on screen."
A fourth shared: " @itv no words on screen for the oath of allegiance is pretty poor planning on your part #KingsCoronation," as a fifth wrote: "Gonna be people annoyed with @ITV where they said they'd put the words to swear to the King."
It comes after a slip up on Good Morning Britain today, when guest Petronella Wyatt swore live on air.
Speaking about Queen Camilla, Susanna said: "Now many people would say she is and has been one of most vilified figures in Britain, today she will be crowned Queen. The public mood towards Camilla, the Queen Consort, has definitely softened in recent years, she is now considered one of the most senior royals of course. Kate is at Buckingham Palace."
The word 'b***h* was then heard - with Petronella later confirming she was the one who swore.
