Furious Netflix viewers demand the site pulls Cuties after fierce backlash

Netflix viewers are furiously demanding controversial new film Cuties is cut from the streaming service.

The French film shows an 11-year-old girl in a dance group, exploring the idea of young girls imitating sexualised imagery without understanding what it means and how dangerous this can be.

Trailers for the film show the little girl and her friends dance suggestively in bra tops and tiny hotpants.

The hashtag #CancelNetflix was trending on Twitter on Friday as the site's users urged them to remove the film.

According to IMDB, scenes include a child actor showing her underwear, children twerking and slapping each other on the bottom.

Another warning reads: "An adult dancer shows her breast at the end of a dance video that two children characters are watching on a phone."

As of this morning, over 359,000 people have signed a Change.org petition to get it cut.

One person tweeted: "@netflix completely unacceptable for you to allow something like this in your library. F**k you! #CancelNetflix."

"@netflix you are disgusting! Cancel cuties #SaveOurChildren," another posted.

A third said: "A clip of Cuties came up on my timeline and I feel like vomiting, and I am currently holding back tears."

Another agreed: "It's past time to send the message loud & clear to entertainment corporations that if they sexually exploit children, we're done. No business. Period."

There was already backlash about the film, which is called Mignonnes in French, after trailers were released, but Netflix still decided to launch it as planned.

But the streaming giant apologised on Twitter and scrapped a poster of the young cast posing suggestively.

"We're deeply sorry for the inappropriate artwork that we used for Mignonnes/Cuties," the tweet read.

Mirror Online has contacted Netflix for comment.
