Lorraine Kelly has slammed the government's "shameful" response to the UK's Ukraine visa figures.
It comes as the UK's visa plan for Ukraine's refugees remains in chaos that the Prime Minister said he was "not sure" the claim that 50 family visas had been granted by 10am on Sunday was correct - despite the fact it was briefed to journalists by the Home Office.
On Good Morning Britain today, hosts Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley spoke to a number of ITV correspondents in Europe reporting on the Ukraine-Russia war.
Among them had been Jonathan Swain, who had provided a heartbreaking interview with a Ukrainian refugee in Calais who had been told that - despite having family in the UK - she would now need to make her way to the visa centre in Paris to apply.
Responding to the interview today, Lorraine said: "That was a brilliant report from both of our correspondents, Nick Dixon and Jonathan Swain, especially Jonathan Swain at Calais. I can't even find the words.
"You know that British people would be at Heathrow or they would be at the train stations welcoming people in and we're not being given the opportunity to do that."
Lorraine shook her head, clearly angry, as Richard pointed out: "And we know from the vaccine rollout that we have the capability to do things quickly - we put the Nightingale hospitals up, we got vaccine centres in car parks and supermarkets, we did it like that! Why can't we get a visa centre in Calais? For god's sake..."
"I hope things are going to change today because it's shameful," Lorraine fumed. "Shameful."
It comes after Downing Street yesterday admitted despite Ms Patel's furious denial that refugees were turned away at Calais, they do, in fact, have to visit visa centres in Paris or Brussels - just as the French government had claimed.
Ms Patel today said "we have set up" a visa centre "en route" to Calais - but minutes later changed her claim to say "we are setting it up", suggesting it is not ready yet.
