Thousands of people attended the funeral for legendary Hells Angels leader Ralph 'Sonny' Barger, the founding member of the motorcyle club's Oakland chapter.
A local sheriff's department had previously warned the event could turn violent but no incidents were reported.
Barger was 83 when he died from throat cancer in June.
According to Tony Noceti, the president of the business that operates the speedway in Stockton, California, where the funeral was held, said around 7,000 people showed up.
Some came from as far as New Jersey, Minnesota and Nebraska.
Attendees gathered in front of a decorated stagewhere Barger's family and friends spoke, reports Recordnet.
One speaker said: "Even though he was blind in one eye, and he packed his oxygen, well, when his kickstand went up, you better catch up."
The Hells Angels are considered a criminal gang by the Department of Justice and have been linked to a number of murders and other horrifying crimes.
Barger himself was convicted in 1988 of conspiring to provide explosives to attack rival club members.
After having his skull fractured by police, Barger added a “1%” patch to his chapter's outfit. This was in response to the head of the American Motorcyclist Association claiming “99 per cent of motorcyclists were law-abiding”.
Despite his run ins with the law he became a well-known public face of the club and authored several books. He also took on a consultant role in a number of films and TV shows including the popular 'Sons of Anarchy'.
Chapters of the Angels have been set up in the UK with some being involved in criminal activites.
In 2019 seven members were locked up for viciously attacking their rivals in a sleepy home counties village.
Rivals, the Vikings Motorcycle Club and their support group Wargs Brotherhood, were meeting at the Forman Institute in Blindley Heath when a group of 13 masked men barged into the room, wielding baseball bats, knives and other weapons.
The thugs, who were members of the Slough chapter of the Hells Angels and its affiliate club the Red Devils, fled the scene leaving six men stabbed and one assaulted in their wake.
The scene was described in court as one of "bloody carnage".
