Funeral details released for woman 'everyone fell in love with'

Funeral details have been released for a woman who was killed on the M62.

Kate Swale died in the early hours of Saturday, May 27, when the car she was passenger in crashed between junction 5 for Roby and junction 6 for Tarbock Island. Her "heartbroken" family described the 21-year-old as being someone "everyone fell in love with."

Tributes flooded in from friends, family and people who knew Kate, as they described how she was “idolised” by everyone she came across. Now, Desmond L. Bannon and Sons Family Funeral Directors have released details of when she will be laid to rest.

A funeral service and celebration of life will take place on Thursday, June 15, at 10am at Christ The King, on Queens Drive. Posting to Facebook, Desmond L. Bannon & Sons Family Funeral Directors said: "It is with the heaviest of hearts that the family of the late Kate Louise Swale have asked us to announce her tragic passing, funeral service and celebration of life. Please feel free to share.

"Kate, was such a special part of so many people’s lives. She will be sadly missed, always remembered and forever loved by all her broken hearted family and many friends.

"Funeral service and celebration of life is to take place at Christ The King Roman Catholic Church Queens Drive on Thursday 15th June 2023 at 10.00am followed by committal at Springwood Crematorium (Rosemary Chapel) for 12 noon. May Kate rest in peace

"Family flowers only please, donations if desired to Breast Cancer UK care of Desmond L. Bannon & Sons where Kate will be resting until Tuesday the 13th June when Kate will be going home to rest privately with her family."

A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has been released under investigation. Detective Sergeant Kurt Timpson, the lead investigating officer from Merseyside Police’s Matrix Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “Following Kate’s death, I would like to thank the local community for their calls, emails and help with our investigation.

“Any road death causes a huge amount of heartache to family and friends left behind. My team will work relentlessly to get answers for Kate’s family, who continue to be supported by specialist officers.

"Our thoughts remain with them at this tragic time. The help of the public is paramount to assist in our investigation and I would ask anyone who has not yet made contact with my investigation team, who witnessed this collision or who has any information to please contact us.

“Alternatively, if you were driving in the vicinity of the M62 between junction 6 to 5 at the time of the crash, I ask that you please check your dashcam footage in case you have captured something which will assist in the investigation. Every piece of information or footage could be vital in establishing what happened.”
