Funeral arrangements announced for Coalisland supermarket worker who died suddenly

The funeral arrangements for the young Co Tyrone man who died suddenly while working at a supermarket on Monday have been announced.

Michael Morgan, 23, from Coalisland sadly passed away after becoming unwell while working at Newell Stores in the town. He was rushed to Craigavon Area Hospital but died a short time later.

A funeral notice for Michael said his funeral service will take place at St Joseph’s Church on the Brackaville Road on Wednesday morning, July 6.

“Suddenly, Michael, RIP, beloved son of Patrick and the late Yvonne, RIP, and much loved brother of Liam, Fionnula, Cathy, Martin, Ciara and Shannon,” the notice from M Dorman & Son said.

“Removal from his late residence, 5, Millview Manor, BT71 6US, on Wednesday at 9.20am to arrive at St Mary and Joseph’s Church, Brackaville Road for Requiem Mass at 10am. Interment afterwards in adjoining cemetery.

“Sacred heart of Jesus have mercy on his soul. Deeply regretted by his sorrowing father, sisters, brothers, nephew Kayden, aunties, uncles, and family circle.”

A post on Facebook also asked mourners to wear football tops as a mark of respect to Michael. It said: "The family have asked that those in attendance to wear jerseys to give him the send off he wanted."

In a post on their social media on Tuesday, Newell Stores said the supermarket would be closed until noon on Wednesday to allow Michael’s colleagues to attend.

“Our Coalisland store will not open until 12 noon on Wednesday 6th July to allow our staff to attend the funeral of our beloved colleague Michael. Thank you for your understanding during this difficult time” the statement said.

Businesses and community groups in the Coalisland area paid tribute to the young man following his passing on Monday. Local barber shop Boyz2Men said he was ‘always smiling’.

"Michael was a lovely lad that was always smiling and full of chat and craic which we have had many’s a day with him in the shop”, the barbers said.

“We will Miss you Micheal taken far too soon. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family your brothers & Sisters and friends. And of course your work colleagues in Newell stores.”
