Fundraising page launched to help West Lothian lad whose car was stripped for spare parts

A fundraising page has been set up to help a West Lothian lad whose car was stripped for parts.

Dylan Laidlaw (18) was devastated to find his car smashed up with the bonnet and boot missing after leaving it parked in a train station car park in Livingston.

He said he's also gutted to have lost his no claim discount.

The incident took place in the car park of Livingston South train station where two cars were targeted for spare parts.

Now big hearted pals have set up a Crowdfunding page to help pay for a new motor.

Organiser Kevin Mohadeb said on the page: "Dylan's car was stripped for parts at Livi South train station.

"This young guy has worked really hard to buy his wee car and has been hit with a £750 excess which is an awful lot for a young laddie.

"Weʼre raising £750 as Dylan has been hammered with a £750 excess through no fault of his own due to scumbags stealing parts on his car."

Dylan's car is thought to be among a number of victims of a 'Corsa Cartel', as several other cases have been reported around the country of cars being stripped.

Police have issued an urgent warning to drivers after probing a number of cases involving thieves ripping the bonnets off cars in West Lothian, Edinburgh and Fife over the past few days

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 9.55am on Sunday, 25 September, police were called to a report of two cars damaged on Murieston West Road, Livingston. Enquiries are ongoing into this incident.”
