A fundraiser set up to help pay for the funeral of tragic Scots schoolboy Devin Gordon has smashed its target to raise £10,000 in less than 24 hours.
Devin sadly died after he was hit by a train at Bathgate station around 2.30pm on Wednesday.
The 13-year-old has been fondly remembered by loved ones as his family said they would miss him every day for the rest of their lives.
In a statement Devin’s family said: “Our lives have changed forever and will never be the same without our precious boy. We will miss him everyday for the rest of our lives.
“Thank you to everyone that’s payed tribute to Devin and those that have sent us condolence messages during this extremely difficult time.
“We would like to ask that our privacy is respected as we come to terms with the tragic loss of our young son.
“Devin will live in our hearts forever."
On Thursday a fundraising page was launched by the mum of one of Devin's teammates at Bathgate Juniors Football Club.
By the following morning the £10,000 target had been reached after around 700 donations.
All of the cash raised will go towards planning Devin's funeral with anything left over going to the family to support them as they grieve their son.
A memorial to Hearts fan Devin has also been planned at Balbardie Park in Bathgate today as devastated loved ones will release balloons and lanterns in his memory.
Nicola Boyd, who has set up the fundraiser, wrote on the page: "We are all very very sad to have heard this news this morning.
"As anyone can imagine this is any parents worse nightmare to lose a child Any donation to help this family with Devin's funeral costs would take the load of the family's minds.
"Our hearts go out to all his family and friends. Rest in paradise little man!!! My son said he was a happy, funny, and nice lad! And a great team player.
"There's a send of tomorrow (Friday 22.1.22) at Balbardie Park where we can release balloons or lanterns of in memory of Devin. Let's give this young lad the send of he truly deserves...
"There's only one number four R.I.P."
