Innovation funding specialist Granted Consultancy has been acquired by Manchester competitor Catax for an undisclosed amount.
Exeter-based Granted, which has secured more than £200m for its clients since its formation in 2010, is the latest purchase for Catax which is owned by global tax services firm Ryan.
Since its formation in 2008 Catax has completed a string of deals, including for Birkenhead-based rival Access2Funding last year, months after it was taken over by Ryan.
Granted, which has a base at the Clockwise Offices in Broadwalk House in Exeter city centre, said its team of more than 30 staff would remain with the firm following the agreement.
Managing director Tom Kennard said: “Our team is honoured to join Catax and Ryan’s grant funding and R&D tax credits team.
“As a global leader in this space, it makes sense to harness our knowledge and expertise to work together for the betterment of our clients. From a workplace culture standpoint, Catax and Ryan are a perfect fit for our team to serve our clients and grow their careers.”
Mark Tighe, founder of Catax, said: “Granted is a well-respected leader in the UK grant funding market. Joining forces makes perfect sense, as we are now able to offer more robust funding solutions and expand the work we do for clients. We are thrilled to have the Granted team on board.”
Ryan’s president of European and Asia-Pacific operations Jon C. Sweet said its deals for Catax, Access2Funding, and now Granted had created “one of the largest innovation grants practices in the UK”.
