The region’s Commonwealth Village of Eastriggs enjoyed games and fun for all the family in spring sunshine on Saturday.
The Historic Commonwealth Games were hailed as “one of the biggest free events held in Eastriggs for many years” by one of the organisers, Richard Brodie.
They were the culmination of a week of activities bringing the community together with support from organisations and local businesses.
There was free admission at Melbourne Park for the games where children had the chance to win medals in the mini-games for three age groups. There were also Scottish Alternative Games such as the Gird ‘n Cleek and Hurlin’ the Curlin’ Stane.
The streets in Eastriggs are all named after places in the Commonwealth to reflect the nationalities of those who worked at the munitions factory along the Solway during World War I.
