Fuming mum shields son's eyes from 'explicit' scene on flight - cabin crew are 'no help'

A horrified mum has sent a complaint to an airline after claiming she had to "shield" her son's eyes from seeing an "explicit nude sex scene" onboard a flight.

LaKeisha Fleming was travelling with her 15-year-old son when she claimed the in-flight entertainment screen on the row in front of them was showing a sex scene.

The mum had been looking for something to watch from her own on-screen entertainment, and was gobsmacked by that she saw.

LaKeisha told Insider : "I saw a nude sex scene in clear view. To be clear, this was not a passenger's personal device. This scene was playing on the seat back, with the airline providing the entertainment.

"I was shocked. That shock turned to horror as I realised the scene was in clear view of my son sitting right next to me."

LaKeisha, who is a writer, author and motivational speaker, positioned herself in the opening between the two seats so that the teenager couldn't see.

After the sex scene had ended she asked flight attendants to help, but she claimed all they could do was offer to change seats.

When the woman contacted the airline following the event, she was given the same advice - to swap seats if the issue occurs again. She argues that this "does nothing to address the content being available in the first place".

After being shared on social media, the story divided opinions, with many feeling the teenager was too old to warrant the mum's reaction.

One person commented: "Seems fine. Someone was watching a movie provided by the airline and the young man wanted to have a look at what other people were watching in the row in front of him which his mother didn't like."

Another said: "I initially thought her kid was going to be like five but at 15, he's seen it. And there's also severe harm in overly sheltering your sons and treating sex like it's shameful or embarrassing.

"Covering his eyes and making a fuss was surely more damaging than someone in front of him watching. He's also old enough to mind his own business, something the mum should work on."

A third suggested: "Why didn't she swap seats with him. It was in the row in front a simple move would not have him in the line of sight."

While someone else wrote: "I am sure her kid had seen plenty. Some parents live in denial."

Meanwhile, some people agreed with the mum. One said: "Make a complaint, they should show family friendly programming, surely there is young children on the plane."

Another said: "To all the people that are making light of this; what about protecting younger children from this behaviour? I can’t believe passengers are this insensitive to others on a plane."

A second noted: "Sounds like she should press charges against the airline. Surely there are laws that prohibit exposing minors to sexually explicit material and the airline is providing it."
