National Highways releases a full list of the routes that will close or partially close due to works in and around Bristol. This week, there are several routes in and near Bristol that will be affected while specialist teams carry out essential works to improve the carriageways.
The M32, M4 and M5 are all key routes for Bristol that are undergoing repair and improvement works this week, commencing July 3, 2023. There is one full road closure on the M32 for planned drainage works that motorists need to look out for in particular.

M32 roadworks
July 4-5, 2023
- M32 southbound between junctions 1 and 2 - Lane one will be closed for planned roadworks between 10pm and 6am overnight.
- M32 northbound between junctions 2 and 1 - Lane two will be closed for emergency barrier repairs from 11.30pm until 6am.
- M32 northbound entry slip at junction 2 - Lane one will be closed for planned roadworks from 10pm until 6am the next morning.
July 5-6, 2034
- M32 northbound at junction 1 - Lane 2 closure for horticultural works from 9pm until 6am the next day.
July 6-7, 2023
- M32 northbound between junctions 3 and 2, exit slip road at junction 2 - All lanes closed for planned roadside drains works from 10pm until 6am.
July 7-8, 2023
- M32 southbound between junctions 1 and 2 - Lane two closure for roadside drains works from 10pm until 6am.
M4 roadworks
July 3-4, 2023
- M4 eastbound between junctions 19 and 18 - Barrier repair works from 9pm until 6am.
July 5-6, 2023
- M4 westbound junction 19 exit slip - Lane one closed for horticultural works from 10pm until 6am.
- M4 eastbound between junctions 19 and 18 - Lane three and four closed for barrier repairs from 8pm until 6am.
July 7-8, 2023
M4 westbound for junction 18, exit slip road at junction 18 - All lanes closed between 11pm and 6am for planned roadworks.
M4 westbound between junctions 17 and 19 - Lanes one and two closed between 10pm and 6am for planned roadworks.
M5 roadworks
July 3-7, 2023
- M5 northbound between junction 22 and 21 - Lanes one and two closed for road repairs with disruption between 8pm and 6am on aforementioned days.
July 7-8, 2023
- M5 northbound between junctions 19 and 18 - Lane one closed for barrier repairs between 10pm and 6am.
July 8-10, 2023
- M5 northbound entry slip road at junction 18 - Roadworks scheme in place between 8pm and 6am on affected days.
July 9-10, 2023
- M5 northbound between junctions 19 and 18, exit slip road at junction 18 - Lanes two, three and four closed for roadworks from 9pm until 6am.
