As it's now the New Year, many of us may be getting organised and wondering what bank holidays we can look forward to in 2023.
This year, we can look forward to an extra bank holiday for King Charles III's coronation day, meaning there will be eleven bank holidays in the upcoming year.
If a bank holiday is on a weekend, a ‘substitute’ weekday becomes a bank holiday, normally the following Monday, Gov.uk say.

Here is a full list of the bank holiday dates in Northern Ireland for 2023:
- Monday January 2, New Year's Day (substitute day)
- Friday March 17, St Patrick's Day
- Friday April 7, Good Friday
- Monday April 10, Easter Monday
- Monday May 1, Early May Bank Holiday
- Monday May 8, bank holiday for the coronation of King Charles III
- Monday May 29, Spring Bank Holiday
- Wednesday July 12, Battle of the Boyne
- Monday August 28, Summer Bank Holiday
- Monday December 25, Christmas Day
- Tuesday December 26, Boxing Day
