Full list of Merseyside postcodes eligible for Cold Weather Payments

Many households across Merseyside and beyond are eligible for an energy bill reduction due to extreme cold weather.

A number of weather warnings were put in place last month, with the Met Office correctly predicting snow, ice and freezing temperatures. When the mercury plummeted, this meant the criteria for Cold Weather payments from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) had been met.

If the average temperature in your area is recorded as, or forecast to be, zero degrees celsius or below over seven consecutive days you'll get a Cold Weather Payment.

The money is given to people on certain benefits and some eligible people will receive the money automatically. There are, however, some instances where they will have to contact the Pension Service or Jobcentre Plus to secure the cash.

Households will receive £25 for each seven-day period of very cold weather between November 1 and March 31.

You may get Cold Weather Payments if you’re getting:

  • Pension Credit
  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Universal Credit
  • Support for Mortgage Interest

Here is a full list of postcodes eligible for one Cold Weather Payment worth £25:

CH41-49, CH60-66, L1-40, PR1-5, PR8-9, PR25-26.

These postcodes are eligible for two Cold Weather Payments, worth £50 in total:

WA9-12 and WN4-5.
