Thousands of people who claim benefits from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) will receive a bonus just in time for Christmas this year.
Those eligible for the bonus will receive an extra £10 in their accounts, being paid from the beginning of December. Manchester Evening News reports that the DWP stated there is no need to claim the money, as it will be paid automatically.
In order to qualify for the bonus, the claimant must have:
Been paid specific benefits in the "qualifying week", typically the first full week of December
Be "ordinarily resident" in the UK, Channel Islands, Isle of Man, or Gibraltar during the same qualifying week

If the week of payment passes and you feel you have qualified but haven't been paid, you should contact Jobcentre Plus or the Pension Service if you claim a State Pension.
Also, if you are married, in a civil partnership, or living with someone while receiving the benefit, then you will also receive the bonus money.

- Carer’s Allowance

- Constant Attendance Allowance (paid under Industrial Injuries or War Pensions schemes)
- Contribution-based Employment and Support Allowance (once the main phase of the benefit is entered after the first 13 weeks of claim)
- Disability Living Allowance
- Incapacity Benefit at the long-term rate
- Industrial Death Benefit (for widows or widowers)
- Mobility Supplement
- Pension Credit - the guarantee element
- Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
- State Pension (including Graduated Retirement Benefit)
- Severe Disablement Allowance (transitionally protected)
- Unemployability Supplement or Allowance (paid under Industrial Injuries or War Pensions schemes)
- War Disablement Pension at State Pension age
- War Widow’s Pension
- Widowed Mother’s Allowance
- Widowed Parent’s Allowance
- Widow’s Pension
