Full list of Covid rules in other countries as Aer Lingus offers major January seat sale

After the recent easing of travel restrictions, Aer Lingus has announced an extension of its January Seat Sale.

There are 2 million seats on sale, and offers include up to 20% off European and UK travel as well as flights to North America from just €169 each way as part of a return trip.

Bill Byrne, Director of Global Sales for Aelingus, said: “We are delighted to extend our January sale until midnight 24th January, for travel from 01st February 2022 until 31st May 2022.

“Our recent search data indicates that consumer confidence in travel is returning following the lifting of travel restrictions for double-vaccinated travellers, and it’s our hope that extending our sale will give those who are looking forward to a holiday in 2022 some extra time to plan that long-awaited trip to Europe or the US and still avail of these great offers.”

However, many people will want to know what restrictions are in place in other countries before purchasing tickets to travel abroad this year.

Here is a list of current restrictions in other countries:

Spain

The Islands of Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera are currently in level three restrictions, while Tenerife in the Canaries is now at level four restrictions.

Level four restrictions include:

  • Pubs and restaurants shut at midnight
  • Public transport is limited to 75% capacity
  • Maximum of six people are now allowed to meet indoors and outdoors
  • Nightclubs capped at 25% capacity, and
  • Vaccine passports must be shown to enter some indoor venues

Level three restrictions include:

  • Beaches restricted to 50% capacity

France

France has introduced a new rule, making vaccination certs invalid without a third dose.

The health pass is a requirement to access a wide variety of services and amenities in France, including bars, restaurants, leisure and culture venues, events bringing together more than 50 people, hospitals (unless you are admitted for urgent care), retirement homes, residential care homes, and inter-regional travel by plane, train, or coach.

You will need to present a pass once on arrival for campsites and other holiday accommodation.

Italy

If considering travelling to Italy, the following Covid restrictions should be followed:

  • Mandatory wearing of facemasks outdoors nationwide.
  • Mandatory requirement to wear specifically FFP2 masks (which filter 95% of particles) and NOT surgical or cloth masks for any public activity indoors or outdoors (including cinema, theatre, concerts, nightclubs, sporting events). In addition, consumption of food or beverages at any indoor events is banned.
  • FFP2 masks are also now required on all public transport.
  • Nightclubs, dance halls, mixed venues are closed until 31st January; events, parties, concerts that would bring large groups together in open spaces are banned.
  • Social distancing of one metre must be observed, and gatherings should be avoided.

USA

As of 6 December 2021, the negative COVID-19 result must be from a test taken no more than one day before travel to the US. This applies to all air passengers, regardless of citizenship.

Documentation showing you have recovered from COVID-19 in the past 90 days may be presented as an alternative to the negative COVID-19 test.

Fully vaccinated travellers are not required to quarantine upon arrival in the US. The CDC also recommends that fully vaccinated travellers take a COVID-19 test 3-5 days after travel.

If you are travelling domestically within the US, individual states and territories may have their own quarantine requirements. A full list of local quarantine requirements is available on the CDC website. This list should be checked frequently as it is likely to change as rates of COVID-19 increase or decrease.
