Full list of benefits that DON'T qualify for £301 cost of living payment this month

There are certain groups of people who claim benefits that wont be getting the cost of living payment this month.

Around eight million people across the UK will be getting the £900 cost of living payment over the next year.

The first payment, due to be paid between April 25 and May 17, will be for £301 and is given to people claiming certain Department for Work and Pension (DWP) and HMRC benefits.

The third payments of £299 and £300 will be paid later this year and early 2024.

However, some benefit claimants will not be getting the cash boost this spring.

According to DWP guidance, people claiming means tested benefits - where your income is taken into account - will get the money.

However, those claiming others such as contributions-based ones only won't be.

This means if you only claim one of these benefits, you will not be getting the cost of living payment:

  • Attendance Allowance
  • Carer's Allowance
  • Child Benefit
  • Disability Living Allowance (DLA)
  • Contributory or New style Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
  • Guardian's Allowance
  • Contribution-based or New style Jobseeker's Allowance
  • Maternity Allowance
  • Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
  • State pension

However, if you are claiming one of these benefits you may be entitled to other financial help.

Around six million people will be entitled to the £150 disability cost of living payment.

Those who claim the following benefits will be paid the £150 later this year:

  • Attendance Allowance
  • Constant Attendance Allowance
  • Disability Living Allowance for adults
  • Disability Living Allowance for children
  • Personal Independence Payment
  • Adult Disability Payment (in Scotland)
  • Child Disability Payment (in Scotland)
  • Armed Forces Independence Payment
  • War Pension Mobility Supplement

If you're of state pension age and you normally get a Winter Fuel Payment, you will also receive the £300 pensioner cost of living payment on top of this.

The exact dates for these payments have not yet been confirmed by the DWP.

If you are claiming one of the following benefits you will be getting the first instalment of the cost of living payment:

  • Universal Credit
  • Income-based Jobseekers Allowance
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Income Support
  • Working Tax Credit
  • Child Tax Credit
  • Pension Credit

For the first payment, you need to have been entitled to the benefit between January 26 and February 25, or received a payment for an assessment period between these dates.

You should also note that if you are later found to be entitled to one of these benefits for this period you will also be paid the cost of living payment.

Low-income pensioners not already getting Pension Credit can still qualify for the £301 if they backdate a Pension Credit application by May 19.
