Full Leeds United squad revealed vs Manchester United as defensive question remains unanswered

Leeds United's long-awaited home fixture against arch-rivals Manchester United in front of a sold-out Elland Road is finally upon us.

Almost two years after promotion was sealed back to the top flight, Leeds fans' wait to see their team go head-to-head with Man United in the flesh is over.

The Whites have experienced some middling form of late, while Ralf Rangnick's side have not been so reliable either, recently.

Draws with Burnley and Southampton somewhat papered over a disappointing FA Cup Fourth Round exit to Middlesbrough, while the 2-0 victory over Brighton and Hove Albion in midweek appeared markedly less convincing than the 2-0 scoreline would suggest.

Leeds recognise the task at hand and veteran coach Marcelo Bielsa discussed as much in his pre-match press conference on Friday.

Victory over their fiercest rivals at Elland Road for the first time in over 7,000 days would certainly plot Leeds United on a steadier course away from relegation trouble which threatens to envelope the Whites over the next few weeks.

Questions do remain over who will start the game at left-back, however.

Stuart Dallas is in contention this weekend and could be named in the squad after withdrawing early from the 3-0 defeat to Everton eight days ago.

However, the anticipated return of Junior Firpo does mean Marcelo Bielsa has the option to start the Spaniard following a hamstring injury sustained last month.

Neither player will be in peak condition, but Bielsa's teenage alternative Leo Hjelde is confirmed to be sidelined with a knee injury which may ultimately require surgery.

Both Dallas and Firpo were pictured in Leeds United training ahead of this weekend's fixture.

Kalvin Phillips impressed in this fixture last season but the game comes too soon for him and Liam Cooper who Bielsa hopes to be able to count on from the beginning of March.

Patrick Bamford has made no progress with the foot injury which has kept him out of action lately, either.
