Fulham's Marlon Fossey reacts to Rotherham transfer speculation after Bolton Wanderers move on

Former Bolton Wanderers loanee Marlon Fossey has rubbished suggestions he is about to join Rotherham United.

The 23-year-old Fulham defender spent part of the second half of the season on loan at Wanderers from newly promoted Premier League side Fulham. Fossey played 16 times and scored once after moving to the club at the start of January in an impressive spell.

His loan at the Whites was cut short due to injury following a torn meniscus. He then returned to his parent club to recover for the remainder of the campaign and now appears to be back towards full fitness.

Fossey has a year left on his current deal at Craven Cottage. Wanderers and Ian Evatt had previously made no secret of the fact that would have liked to have signed the wing-back this summer.

However, Wanderers have since ended their pursuit of the wing-back owing to interest emerging from the Championship. The club has subsequently moved on and signed Liverpool right-back Conor Bradley on loan for the upcoming campaign.

Reports on Twitter over the weekend had suggested that Rotherham United were set to land the wing-back this summer. Wigan Athletic were also mentioned as among sides interested.

However, Fossey has now taken to social media to seemingly rule himself out of a move to the Millers. It comes after he had people congratulating on him on a transfer which does not appear to be taking place.

Writing on Twitter, Fossey wrote: "I was wondering why people were congratulating me on my ‘move’... This tweet isn’t true."
