The sight of fuel prices starting with a 1 will be a welcome sight to a lot of Dubliners today as more and more petrol stations drop their prices below the €2 mark for the first time in weeks.
Fuel prices rose sharply in the spring and early summer - a knock-on effect of the conflict in Ukraine causing uncertainty over gas supplies, as well as the wider cost of living crisis. Protestors took to the streets of Dublin as prices skyrocketed to nearly €2.20 per litre.
Petrol stations in Dublin are now averaging out somewhere around the 202.9c mark for diesel, and the 203.9c mark for petrol, according to Pumps.ie. The most expensive prices listed for both are 215.7c for diesel, and 219.7c for petrol.

But a number of stations now sit below the €2 mark for both petrol and diesel. Pumps.ie lists five stations - Topaz on Ushers Quay in Dublin 8, Maxol on the Harold's Cross Road, GO on the Kylemore Road in Ballyfermot, Emo at Mount Brown, and Campus on East Wall Road - as having unleaded petrol prices of 199.9c.
Meanwhile, seven Dublin stations - the five listed above, alongside Topaz on the Kennelsfort Road in Palmerstown and Applegreen on the Ballyfermot Road - have diesel prices below €2. Six of the seven stations list the black stuff at 199.9c, while the Maxol on the Harold's Cross Road takes the top prize for Dublin's cheapest fuel with 198.9c.
