FSG face big Jude Bellingham transfer dilemma but verdict is clear on four Liverpool players

Liverpool are under pressure now to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Ideally, we all know what player everyone connected with the club - staff, players and fans - want to see signed and that’s Jude Bellingham.

He is top of the list and everything ticks all of the boxes, it’s just about the money. Whether Dortmund can sell him, as well, that’s where we are at. If Liverpool can get him in January then that would be a great coup.

But it all depends, and people tend to forget, that Liverpool are in the process of seeking further investment and possibly being sold. Where do the owners lie?

It’s a big investment to come out of Fenway Sports Group’s pockets if they signed Bellingham, unless they do know who is going to be taking over as new owners and they’re willing to structure the deal, no one knows.

It’s never easy when you’re talking about £100m-plus, it’s never going to be easy. A lot of that will be down to the owners.

FSG stance will be key

It will depend on if FSG knows the prospective buyers, but we won’t know until the last minute. But if the prospective buyers are willing to pay the money down the line then that can work.

But we don’t know, and we shouldn’t know these things. I’m sure something, if it was on the cards, would be sorted out down the line financially for the owners’ concern.

What should Liverpool do with out of contract players?

I don’t think that Naby Keita is going to get a new contract. The way he’s been this season with injuries, it looks like he’s going to see his contract out.

That’s a big investment of £52.75m that the club spent on him and one of the poor transfers in recent times. Liverpool haven’t had many of them, and I expect him to see his contract out and leave on a free.

James Milner is like Peter Pan. I can’t say anything else that hasn’t already been said, he’s just a dream to have at the club.

In whatever capacity; in the changing room, on the pitch, on the training ground, as a manager, he’s been magnificent for the club.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain just wants to play games. Whether he’s good enough to get into the Liverpool team? He might have an opportunity over the next month or so.

I don’t know, though. You can see that he doesn’t play many games at the club, and when he’s fit he’s at that age where he needs to play.

He’s done well for the club and given us all good times, so we just have to wait and see.

I think Roberto Firmino is the one out of contract player that could stay if he wanted to. He’s had a good season, he’s done himself no harm.

He’s not the oldest, but he might have another season or two in him, depending on the level that you need. But I don’t know, and that’s up to him and the manager to chat about.

Firmino loves the club and the fans absolutely love him, and I think that he is the biggest possibility to sign a new deal. Even though Liverpool are bringing in new players, you need strength up top.

So he might stay. When you look at it you may have Firmino, Jota, Diaz, Salah, Nunez and potentially Cody Gakpo, that’s six options there up front.

It depends on Klopp and Liverpool will need cover. The way it is in football you need two options for every position, so they will need six players.
