The Football Supporters Association (FSA) believes the Premier League have missed the 'opportunity' to give Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II the send-off she deserved following her death.
The Queen passed away peacefully on Thursday at Balmoral castle. Her tragic death prompted the beginning of a 12-day mourning period across the UK. With that in mind, the Premier League have decided to postpone this weekend's games to pay respect to Her Majesty.
A statement from the Premier League's official website read: "At a meeting this morning, Premier League clubs paid tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. To honour her extraordinary life and contribution to the nation, and as a mark of respect, this weekend's Premier League match round will be postponed, including Monday evening's game." Richard Masters, the Premier League's Chief Executive, said: "We and our clubs would like to pay tribute to Her Majesty's long and unwavering service to our country. As our longest-serving monarch, she has been an inspiration and leaves behind an incredible legacy following a life of dedication.

"This is a tremendously sad time for not just the nation but also for the millions of people around the world who admired her, and we join together with all those in mourning her passing."
The Premier League confirmed that further updates regarding fixtures during the mourning period will be provided in due course.
The big question is when these fixtures will be re-scheduled, with game week eight also in doubt with the state funeral taking place next weekend. It's a decision that has split opinions, with some fans pointing to the fact that other leagues across Europe are continuing.
Not just that but the likes of Rugby League, Cricket, F1 and Golf are going ahead with their schedule. Piers Morgan, Gary Neville and Petr Crouch have reciprocated these frustrations shared by supporters. The FSA believe the English top flight might have missed a trick in giving Her Majesty the perfect send-off.
A statement released on their website read: "We believe football is at its finest when bringing people together at times of huge national significance – be those moments of joy or moments of mourning.
"Our view, which we shared with the football authorities, is that most supporters would have liked to go to games this weekend and pay their respect to the Queen alongside their fellow fans.
"Not everyone will agree, so there was no perfect decision for the football authorities, but many supporters will feel this was an opportunity missed for football to pay its own special tributes.
"As usual, the Football Supporters' Association will be collating advice about supporters' entitlements regarding expenses incurred relating to postponed games this weekend."
