Furious residents living on a busy Mapperley road have expressed concern over drivers "tearing up and down the road." Porchester Road is a long stretch of road that connects the Mapperley suburb to Nottingham and to Gedling, existing between both.
Around 2,283 metres long, or roughly 1.4 miles, once at the top drivers can access the city to the left or towns within Gedling, such as Arnold, to the right. It should come as a given, then, that thousands of cars travel up and down Porchester Road on a daily basis - and the post-work rush hour can be a bit of a nightmare for drivers.
Yet, residents say they are far more concerned at night-time, when speeding drivers "tear up the roads." Those living next to the road say they often see motorists speeding some way over the 30mph limit and are worried an accident could take place at any time.

71-year-old David South, who is retired and lives in Porchester Road, said: "It's a nightmare. We've had a few people tearing up and down the road.
"You see it even now it is very busy, this is before the rush hour. But then at night when there are less cars on the road you can hear them tearing all over the place.
"It's a 30mph speed limit but these cars - and there is one in particular that I see a lot - are up and down at nearly 60mph. Also Valley Road, in Carlton, it's a straight road down to there from here and there can be a lot of near misses going that way.
"It's the only road in and out where cars can get access - that and Westdale Lane - so of course it's going to be packed with cars a lot of the time. I don't think there should be any ramps put in because all it does is stall the cars.
"It could do with some speed cameras. It's just so blatant how dangerous the driving can be. It speeds up at night when it's quieter - it gets really bad."
Lauren Cairn, 42, who works as a waitress and bartender and lives next to the road, said: "It certainly could do with speed cameras if we don't have a few already. Even if there are some, I think they need more.
"There's an accident waiting to happen because people just don't care when they're driving past. There are so many of them and all it takes is one reckless driver.
"There was an accident just here recently with a motorbike and one or two cars - it was pretty bad. Police were on the road and they had it all taped off, it could've been even worse.
"That was just a few months ago. I'm surprised there haven't been more.
"People take liberties everywhere with driving, it's just one of those things. But this road stretches far far back - it's the key road in Mapperley - so people just need to be careful and considerate."
Police cordoned off Porchester Road following an incident involving a car and a motorbike earlier this year. Officers were called to the road just after 10am on Tuesday, May 24.
A man was taken to hospital after sustaining injuries during the incident, the force confirmed.
Daniel Kerrick, 51, who lives just off the road, said: "It's a bit of a worry. There are thousands of cars that come up here on a daily basis and actually during the rush hour, when there the road is full, there aren't many incidents.
"Except for the noise. But later in the evening, when the road is clear, that's when you get the worst of it.
"People zoom up and down. It's distracting and it's concerning because anything could happen."
Nottinghamshire County Council has been approached for comment.
