The Diamondbacks’ dominant NLCS Game 6 victory appeared to be too much for Phillies fans on Monday, as evidenced by the startling scene inside Citizens Bank Park near the game’s end.
A 5–1 Arizona lead entering the ninth inning cast much doubt on Philadelphia’s chances of a late-game rally to close out the series. Still, with one final frame to go, the Phillies had a chance to defy the odds and pull off the win despite an off night.
Unfortunately for the home team, the home crowd didn’t seem to have any remaining patience to wait for a potential comeback. Hordes of frustrated fans cleared the stands after the eighth inning ended.
As it turns out, the Phillies’ night would end with another scoreless inning, adding more heartache for those who stayed to watch the finish.

On a night when the surging Phillies' lineup stalled, Monday’s loss, on top of the crowd’s reaction, suggests the Diamondbacks could be on the verge of closing in on an upset.
With the stage for Game 7 now officially set, Tuesday’s series closer in Philly figures to be full of drama involving both teams. And the Phillies faithful will frantically hope for back-to-back World Series appearances.
First pitch for NLCS Game 7 is scheduled for 8:07 p.m. ET and will be televised on TBS. Brandon Pfaadt is expected to start for the D-Backs, while Ranger Suarez gets the nod for the Phillies.
