Frustrated driver says Beeston Tesco overcharged him for fuel - and he won't fill up there again

A man says he was overcharged for filling his car up with petrol at the Tesco station in Beeston, and that he won't be filling up there again. Malik Fiaz, 40, filled up his 1.2l Skoda Fabia at the station on Saturday (March 19) using the pay-at-pump service.

The part-time Uber driver, who fills up regularly, explained he put his card in and scanned his Tesco Clubcard as normal as he filled up with £24.44 worth of fuel. Mr Fiaz, who also works from home and for Amazon, opted for the receipt to be printed, and left the forecourt for his home in the city centre, thinking he would pay for what he had put in.

However, when he checked his online bank account, at the exact date, time and location of the transaction, Mr Fiaz was instead charged with £30. Nottinghamshire Live has seen the printed receipt of £24.44, and the pending transaction of £30 with the same details.

Mr Fiaz said: "I was shocked when I saw the transaction for £30, I thought 'that's not true, it can't be true'. I showed the lady behind the till the pending transaction a day later, and she said it doesn't make sense and to go into the main store to speak with customer services."

Malik Fiaz said he was overcharged when he filled his Skoda Fabia (Malik Fiaz)

But Mr Fiaz added customer service staff couldn't find a transaction of £30 on the system. "I felt they were clueless as to what was going on, and I felt patronised and that I was not treated right. I normally fill up here as it's one of the cheapest around, but I won't be doing that again," he said.

Mr Fiaz forwarded his receipt on to his bank, and he has since been charged the correct amount of £24.44. But he said he remained dissatisfied with the service he received. Nottinghamshire Live has contacted Tesco for comment but has not received a response at the time of publication.
