In a bid to lose weight, it may seem an obvious approach to consume a substantial amount of fruit. Replacing unhealthy snacks, such as crisps or biscuits, with an apple, a pear or some strawberries will undoubtedly help in someone's quest to shift some fat.
However, a health specialist TV personality has suggested that a blanket approach can not be adopted when it comes to fruit consumption. Dr Michael Mosley has advocated that some fruits are better off away from your diet if you’re serious about slimming down.
Through changing his diet and increasing his exercise, the journalist, producer and presenter successfully lost 1.4st and even reversed his diabetes, the Express reports. Through numerous diet books and TV programmes, the man who popularised the 5:2 diet has had plenty to say to dieters for many years.

He has suggested simple ways to lose belly fat "fast". Proposals have included adopting a Mediterranean way of eating and intermittent fasting.
In his TV programme, Lose a Stone in 21 Days, Mosley helped five volunteers reclaim their slim bodies through a strict regimen. When talking about those with dangerous levels of fat, Dr Michael suggested that if people fail to take steps to combat this, "it can take years off your life."
A low-calorie, high-protein and low-sugar diet is one key aspect required to lose weight at a rapid rate, says Mosley. On the Fast 800 website, Dr Michael and his team provided his top tips on losing belly fat fast.
They compiled a list of foods that dieters can eat to lose weight fast, before moving onto a Mediterranean diet, which he described as a "way of life". It is recommended that dieters begin their day with low calorie eggs - around 63 calories are in a medium sized egg.
The website also states that people’s protein intake should be ramped up, eating foods such as oily fish, prawns, chicken and turkey. For the non-meat-eaters, alternatives can be found in the form of beans, notably edamame, while dairy, nuts and seeds can also provide sufficient protein.
Unsurprisingly, healthy vegetables should also be comprehensively consumed, with the more colourful and varied the better. Far from banning fat, the doctor also says that nuts, which have a high fat content, can be enjoyed as they are also rich in proteins, minerals and vitamins.
Full-fat yoghurt is also on the recommended list, and can be enjoyed with a handful of berries. That being said, in order to lose a stone in just three weeks, certain foods must be limited or completely prohibited.
One suggestion is to cut out super sweet fruits altogether. These include mangos, pineapples and melons, with slimmers better off opting for berries if they want to be successful at ditching weight.
Cravings for treats, such as ice cream, chocolate or cake, are no doubt going to prove a challenge, and the expert recommends indulging in a square of dark chocolate to combat this instead. While snacks should generally be avoided, if a slimmer must eat between meals, the suggestion is to opt for things like nuts, seeds, a sliver of cheese or non-starchy vegetables.
Low-carb versions of their favourite foods, such as takeaways, should also be tried during this dieting period. Dr Michael accepts that rapid weight loss is not always easy, with one of his tips being to stay accountable.
