One airline’s passengers who overpack may need extra money on their next flight.
Frontier Airlines recently changed its weight requirements and the prices that accompany them.
Any tickets purchased on or after Jan. 18 will be subject to a baggage requirement of 40 pounds or less, according to the company’s website.
The new limit means overpacking fees start at 41 pounds instead of 51 pounds.
The overweight bag fees, which are in addition to the payment to check the bag, will be $50 for bags between 41 pounds and 50 pounds and $100 for bags weighing 51 pounds to 100 pounds, USA Today reported.
Frontier’s changes start on March 1 for tickets purchased on or after Jan. 18, according to Frontier’s website.
However, if you’re traveling in February, the old rules may still apply.
If a customer bought a ticket on or before Jan. 18 and travels through February, the 50 pound allowable limit will remain.
