A Frontier Airlines flight scheduled to depart from Houston to the Dallas area was abruptly canceled last week due to the arrest of one of its pilots, Seymour Walker. The incident occurred at Bush Intercontinental Airport, where Walker was taken into custody by Houston police officers around 4 p.m. on Thursday.
Walker, aged 45, was apprehended on an assault-family violence arrest warrant issued by the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport Department of Public Safety. The circumstances surrounding the warrant were not disclosed, and Walker's current status in custody remains unclear as of Monday.
Frontier Airlines, in a statement addressing the situation, confirmed that the pilot's arrest was unrelated to his job performance or the airline's operations. However, due to the unavailability of an immediate replacement for Walker, the flight had to be canceled.
Passengers affected by the cancellation were promptly offered various options by the airline. These included a full refund, credit for future travel, or re-accommodation on the next available Frontier flight later that evening. Additionally, impacted travelers were provided with a $100 flight voucher and offered overnight hotel accommodations as necessary.
Efforts to obtain a response from the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport Department of Public Safety regarding Walker's arrest have not yielded a comment at this time. Walker himself has not been reachable for comment on the incident.
