A vicious attack at a house party left a teenager hospitalised and needing surgery to treat multiple fractures in his jaw, his father has said.
The 19-year-old was rushed to hospital on Friday evening after he was allegedly assaulted by several people at a house party in Belconnen.
"His front teeth were kicked in. He had multiple fractures," the young man's father told The Canberra Times.
He said his son ended up needing surgery on the weekend to reconstruct his face.
"He had two titanium plates fixed ... he is waiting for his jaw to heal," the father said.
ACT police have released footage of the violence which occurred on a street in Giralang on October 4.
Video of the fighting shows people kicking and punching a man on the ground.
The police said the brawl broke out when gate-crashers were denied entry to a house party at the location.
"Between 8.15pm and 8.45pm on Friday, October 4, a group of young people attempted to enter a house party without invitation and an altercation occurred soon after," police said in a statement.
"A 19-year-old man was assaulted by several people and was transported to hospital where he was treated for serious facial injuries."
Police had spoken to some of the witnesses present, but they wanted more people who saw something to come forward.
They want any new footage from phones.
The teenager's father said he was very grateful to staff at Canberra Hospital who treated his son following the incident.
"I want to give a big shoutout to the facial construction team at the hospital in Woden," he said.
