Bet you didn't see that one coming.
Just months after launching the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion for Elden Ring, developer FromSoftware showed up at the Game Awards 2024 to reveal Elden Ring Nightreign, a co-op focused survival experience that revels in massive boss battles. You can check out the reveal trailer below:
During the trailer, eagle-eyed FromSoftware fans will note a number of bosses from across the history of this team's games.
"We hope you will look forward to it," the team wrote in a message on X (Twitter).

Little else is known right now, but Elden Ring Nightreign is slated to launch across Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows PC, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4 at some point in 2025. Naturally, we'll keep you up to date as more details are revealed.
Co-op has long been an important part of FromSoftware games, but this game is taking that to the next level by making it a central component of the design and structure.
In our review of Shadow of the Erdtree, my colleague Brendan Lowry wrote that "The Shadow of the Erdtree DLC is Elden Ring at its most refined, with overly formulaic elements of the base game's open world design cut away and some of the most exhilarating boss battles in the entire FromSoftware Soulsborne catalog."
I have to praise FromSoftware's output, as assuming nothing is delayed here, the teams at this studio will have managed to put out Elden Ring, Armored Core 6, Shadow of the Erdtree, and soon Nightreign in a three-year period.
