From Prince Charles to Prince Louis: a look back at all of the royal baby photocalls

On Monday we welcomed the newest addition to the Royal Family – the yet-to-be-named baby son of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Born at 5:26am, May 6, Harry and Meghan released a statement saying both mother and baby are doing well.

Breaking from tradition, the couple has confirmed they will have a photocall to introduce Baby Sussex to the world in two days time, rather than on the day of birth as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge did.

The Princess Royal (formerly Princess Anne) was the first royal mother to be photogrohed on the steps of the Lindo Wing after giving birth to her first child, Peter Phillips. While Princess Anne did not stop for a formal photo – instead walking down the steps into the waiting car – Princess Diana and Prince Charles were the first to embrace the photo opportunity outside the Lindo Wing when Prince William was born in 1982.

Prince Harry was also born at the Lindo Wing, as were the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

Royal baby first appearances through the years

The Duke and Duchess of York opted for The Portland Hospital, near Regents Park in London, for the birth of their daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, while the Earl and Countess of Wessex opted to have their children at Frimley Park Hospital in Surrey.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are enjoying their first hours of parenthood at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, but the waiting world will get their first glimpse of the baby in a couple of days time.
