Lucknow/Gorakhpur/Maharajganj: Vinay Shankar Tiwari, former BSP MLA from Uttar Pradesh, is the son of late Hari Shankar Tiwari—a powerful former minister from Gorakhpur. He inherited his father’s political legacy, winning the Chillupar seat on a BSP ticket, later he joined SP. Despite his political lineage, Tiwari lost the 2022 assembly elections. Now, he’s embroiled in a massive financial scandal.
As per Dynamite News correspondent, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raided 11 locations—including Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Noida, Delhi, and Mumbai—linked to Tiwari and his company, Gangotri Enterprises. The raids, part of a ₹754-crore bank fraud probe, began early morning with over a dozen ED teams. Tiwari had repeatedly ignored ED summons before the operation.

Tiwari’s firm, Gangotri Enterprises, took a ₹1,129-crore loan from a consortium of banks but allegedly siphoned off ₹754 crore, violating banking rules. The ED claims the funds were misused, causing massive losses to lenders. The CBI had already filed an FIR, prompting the ED’s money laundering probe. So far, assets worth ₹100 crore have been seized.
ED sources say a chargesheet against Tiwari is ready and may be filed soon. Documents recovered during the raids suggest deeper financial irregularities. With his political career already fading, Tiwari now faces a legal storm that could define his future.
