More and more, we’re seeing former NFL players quickly make the transition from the field to the sidelines and taking on a coaching role. And if you ask Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor, he’ll tell you he has a future coach sitting on his offensive line.
Taylor discussed his new center Ted Karras and believes Karras has a future on the sidelines if he wants to pursue it.
“Ted is going to be a coach some day,” Taylor said, per Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com. “That’s what I see from him. He’s not only a really good football player who’s won a lot of championships and knows what it takes. But he maintains a very high standard for himself and others and that’s really exciting.”
Karras certainly has the playing pedigree for coaching the line, despite only being in the league since 2016. Karras has proven to be a valuable commodity in his time with the Patriots and Dolphins and will bring that same value for his first season with the Bengals.
Karras is still only 29, so he still has some good playing years left but it’s never bad to have the backing of a young head coach that has already reached a Super Bowl.
