Dirk Kuyt is seeking a new challenge away from the football pitch and into the boxing ring as he goes on the hunt for a celebrity opponent to take on. The Dutchman is most famous for his time at Liverpool.
The former Liverpool forward, who joined for £10m in 2006, retired from football when playing for Feyenoord in 2017 after helping them to the Eredivisie title on the final day of the season, in what was his final game as a professional footballer.
Now four years retired, the Dutchman has recently been quoted saying 'missed the tension' of his playing days. Kuyt spent six years at Anfield, making 208 appearances during his time under the management of Rafael Benitez.

He told the Humberto Talk Show, per Marca: “As a former football player, I know what it’s like to be in a stadium.
“It’s been about four years since I stopped playing football. And of course, I miss that tension and that struggle to win a match. I have practiced many other sports, such as tennis, paddle tennis and fitness. But getting into a ring is new to me.
“So I would love to get into that battle against another celebrity. From now on I will train hard.”
Kuyt isn’t the only footballer that has been looking to pick up the gloves soon as Patrice Evra was also scheduled to make his boxing debut against YouTuber Adam Saleh at the O2 Arena in London later this month, but the event is currently in doubt.
