From living in a storage room to jet-set life with Cristiano Ronaldo - the rags to riches story of Georgina Rodriguez

Her life now is one of jaw-dropping wealth and luxury as the girlfriend of Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo - but it has not always been that way for Georgina Rodriguez.

The model and dancer is about to share her extraordinary life in a new Netflix documentary, I am Georgina, that will allow fans all around the world to see just what it is like to live with one of the world's most famous sports stars.

And in it Georgina, 27, will reveal the heartaches of her past, and why she will never forget where she came from - while allowing the cameras to follow the dazzling jet-set life she now leads for the first time.

In the documentary (titled Soy Georgina in Spanish) she will talk about the fateful moment when she met superstar Cristiano while working at a designer fashion store five years ago.

And it will also detail how her life of wealth now is in complete contrast to her earlier years.

As a teenager she struggled to make ends meet having moved to Madrid to make a better life for herself - but was only able to afford an apartment that was a tiny converted storage room as her home.

She also briefly worked in the UK as an au pair in Bristol to help her learn English.

Georgina, 27, is now a devoted mum to her and Cristiano's four children, and is also pregnant with twins, and they all live together in a huge mansion in Alderley Edge.

Geogina says: "Thanks to love, my life is now a dream."

Her new documentary was shot by Netflix over the past year, starting at a time when the couple were based in Turin, Italy, when Ronaldo was still playing at Juventus before his huge comeback to Manchester United was sealed in September 2021.

In the trailer for the new series, Georgina is seen on glamorous photoshoots, in designer clothes on the back of a yacht as well as a doting mum to her children.

She says: "Five years ago my life changed.

"I'm the girlfriend of the world's most-followed man.

"I used to dream of having a prince charming by my side and now I have him."

Back in 2016 Georgina had started what at the time for her was a dream job in Madrid selling luxury items at high end designer store Gucci - and that's where she first met Cristiano in what would be something of a love-at-first-sight experience.

The magical moment they first bumped into each other, and how their romance blossomed, will be told from both Georgina and Cristiano's sides in the series.

As she will be seen saying in the new documentary, while she used to sell designer goods, she now wears them.

In the trailer for the new series, she is also seen returning to her hometown of Jaca in the Pyrenees in Spain where she grew up with her mum and sister Ivana, who will also appear in the series.

She says: "Jaca is the place where I grew up, it's where I danced, enjoyed my family's love and all of that has shaped me.

"It's very important for me to remember where I came from, who I am.

"Because I know what it's like to have nothing, and I know what it's like to have it all."

Reds legend Ronaldo will also feature in the documentary, and in the trailer he beams as he tells of her love for her. He says: "She's the woman I'm completely in love with".

She is praised by friends in the documentary as the "warmest, most loving mother" to Alana, now 4, and Ronaldo's eldest son Cristiano Jr, 11, and four-year-old twins Eva and Mateo.

In the Netflix series she will be seen at fashion shows, exploring her unique style, and attending glamorous parties in exotic locations.

It will debut worldwide on Netflix on Thursday January 27, which is also Georgina's 28th birthday.

She says: "I don't think I'm a phenomenon but I do think I'm a lucky woman.

"Many know my name, but few know who I really am."

Discussing her passion for fashion and hobbies, she says: "I have a very unique style, and I love to sing, whether I'm good or bad at it that is another thing."

In the publicity blurb for the series, Netflix bosses say: "Soy Georgina is an emotional and in-depth portrait of the woman behind the covers, the photos, the stories and the big headlines.

"Soy Georgina will reveal all aspects of her life, from the most public and well-known to the most personal ones.

"We will experience her day-to-day life with her, her motherhood, her relationship, her travels, her parties...

"We will get to know who Georgina Rodríguez really is."

And while Ronaldo might be followed by a massive 393million people on his Instagram and is known the world over as one of the greatest living footballers, to Georgina he's just Cristiano.

She smiles: "Cristiano is great, he's a very normal guy."

I Am Georgina premieres on Netflix from 8am on January 27 in the UK.
