From historic Rangers high to a brutal goodbye: Queen’s Park sack Callum Davidson

Callum Davidson has been sacked from his position as Queen’s Park manager following a bruising 4-0 home loss to Falkirk on Saturday afternoon.

Less than five weeks ago, the second-tier outfit eliminated Rangers from the Scottish Cup, a result that played a role in Philippe Clement's recent dismissal.

(Image: Steve Welsh - PA) Davidson, who leaves Queen's Park sitting seventh in the Scottish Championship, was gaining widespread plaudits following their unexpected fifth round victory at Ibrox.

And the 48-year-old has previously won the domestic cup double with St Johnstone, beating Rangers along the way.

But since that shock triumph on February 9, Queen's Park have won just one of their last seven matches in all competitions, ultimately contributing to Davidson's demise at the national stadium.

Queen’s Park issued a short statement confirming his departure.

It read: “Queen’s Park FC can today advise that Head Coach Callum Davidson has been relieved of his duties following today’s match with Falkirk.

“Further information will be issued by the club in the coming days.”
