Rory McIlroy is back in the spotlight—not just for his blistering round of 66 at The Masters but because his personal life continues to grab just as many headlines as his golf game. With a two-shot lead heading into the final round, all eyes should be on his quest for that elusive career grand slam… but Rory’s love life has other ideas.
Nearly a year ago, fans were blindsided when he filed for divorce from wife Erica Stoll just days before the US PGA Championship. But in a surprising twist, a month later, the couple revealed they’d patched things up. Rory confirmed the reunion ahead of the U.S. Open, saying, “Erica and I have realized that our best future was as a family together.”
Their story hasn’t been without drama. The pair tied the knot in a lavish 2017 wedding at Ashworth Castle with a guest list packed with celebrities and performances from Ed Sheeran and Stevie Wonder. By 2020, they were parents to daughter Poppy, and Rory often praised Erica for keeping him grounded, reported Irish Star.
But things haven’t always been so steady. Before Erica, Rory had a headline-making romance with tennis star Caroline Wozniacki. They were engaged in 2013, but he called it off—shockingly—just after wedding invites had gone out. Caroline later poked fun at him during a live interview at Augusta, making it clear there’s still some tension.

And then there was the Meghan Markle chapter. Back in 2014, before she met Prince Harry, Meghan shared a brief but much-gossiped-about connection with Rory. It started with the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, where Rory did the honours and Meghan called him “the real deal” in a gushy post on her now-defunct blog. They were even spotted dining together in Dublin. Though nothing was confirmed, it kept the rumor mill churning.
More recently, CBS Sports presenter Amanda Balionis was linked to Rory amid his marital hiccup. The pair shared a warm moment post-interview, fuelling whispers—especially as Amanda appeared without her wedding ring and reverted to her maiden name. But both parties stayed silent, and sources insist there was nothing romantic going on.
Despite the ups and downs, Rory seems to be focusing on his game and family. After winning the DP World Tour Championship late last year, he celebrated with a kiss for Erica and a cuddle with Poppy, later saying, “I’ve been through a lot this year professionally, personally… I persevered.”
Now, with the green jacket in sight, fans are hoping he can finally complete the grand slam—and keep the drama strictly on the course.
