From Doctor to Terrorist: The unholy Journey of Tahawwur Rana

Doctor by Day, Terrorist by Night

New Delhi: The Interrogation of 26/11 conspirator Tahawwur Rana has unveiled startling details about his proclivity with Pakistani military uniforms and how he used them during conventions with his handlers.

The Uniform Phobia

Rana, despite being a doctor by profession, had a strange infatuation with the Pakistan Army’s dress. According to Dynamite News correspondent, he intermittently wore the uniform during clandestine meetings with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operatives, including co-conspirator David Coleman Headley (alias Javed).

From Medicine to Terrorism

Rana’s journey from army doctor to terror recruiter is expedient. He served as a medical professional in the Pakistan Army. Later, he joined Lashkar-e-Taiba’s political wing, controlled by 26/11 mastermind Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi, connected with Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami (HuJI), another Pakistan-based terror group. He also played a key role in devising attacks in India, including the 2008 Mumbai terror strikes.

The 26/11 Connection

Rana played a key role in the conspiracy behind the deadly Mumbai attacks, which resulted in the deaths of 166 people. Intelligence agencies confirm he worked closely with ISI-linked handlers while operating from Pakistan.

Who Else is Involved?

Indian agencies are still hunting for other key conspirators hiding in Pakistan. ISI-backed terror groups protect many, including Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami (HuJI)
