Frogmore Cottage staff are moved out as Sussexes quit UK

Staff at Frogmore Cottage, the UK home of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, have been axed from their roles and moved to other royal palaces - according to reports.

It comes after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced they wanted to step back from senior royal roles and spend part of their time in North America.

The move makes it clear that Frogmore, revamped for the royal couple at a cost of £2.4million, is unlikely to be a frequent destination for the breakaway family.

The cottage's permanent employees – including a house manager and a cleaner – are reportedly being moved to other duties within the Queen’s household, reports The Mirror .

Ad Hoc employees have reportedly been told they will no longer be needed at the cottage.

There are reported to have been no redundancies as a result of the move.

A source told the Mail: "The workers are already being offered other roles at Buckingham Palace.

"There is a skeleton staff [at Frogmore] all the time, consisting of one cleaner and a house manager. Others work as and when needed.

"This has all come as a bit of shock. They took great pride in working for them and being at Frogmore."

Frogmore was previously five separate staff cottages but was knocked into one larger residence.
