Dublin Fire Brigade has shared a stark warning about the dangers of charging electric scooters and bicycles at home.
Sharing a shocking clip on their official Twitter account, Dublin Fire Brigade explained that an occurrence such as this is rare, but is possible.
The video shows an unsuspecting person walking around their house before the electric scooter plugged into the wall suddenly bursts into flame.

The footage then shows the person trying to get close to the vehicle before it appears to explode again. The fire gets progressively larger and more explosive.
Sharing the clip on social media, Dublin Fire Brigade explained how such a thing can happen when charging electric scooters and bikes.
They said: "The dangers of charging electric bicycles and scooters are well known. While it is rare, it does happen.
"Batteries on fire will experience a ‘Thermal Runaway’ which requires 100’s of litres per minute of water to control.
"Get out. Stay out."
Dublin Fire Brigade shared a link to advice from Dublin City Council pertaining to e-scooters and bikes, which suggests that customers only buy from reputable sellers and make sure the e-scooter, e-bicycle or hoverboard has a genuine CE mark.
The council also warn that the lithium-ion batteries or li-ion batteries, which are the lightweight batteries that power e-scooters, e-bicycles and hoverboards, present a fire risk if they are over-charged, short-circuited, submerged in water or if they are damaged.
