Friends co-creator shares the ending Phoebe almost got instead of dream wedding

It almost ended completely differently for Phoebe Buffay in Friends, according to a co-creator.

Phoebe (Lisa Kudrow) walked down the aisle with Mike (Paul Rudd) in scenes which melted the hearts of fans everywhere.

As it turns out, the hilarious blonde almost ended up with love interest David (Hank Azaria) instead.

Friends' co-creator David Crane, 62, dropped the bombshell in a new interview as he mulled over the potential alternate ending for Phoebe.

He told The Radio Times : "There was definitely a possibility of that. I mean, we didn't definitely know [who she would end up with].

"They're both amazing actors. I mean, both Paul and Hank are fantastic and fantastic with her. We sort of went back and forth.

"I don't remember all the pieces that led to where we landed but yeah it could have gone the other way. Phoebe would have been great with either one."

Fans will remember Phoebe fell for David but the pair went their separate ways when "the Scientist Guy" moved to Russia.

Years later, David went all guns blazing to try and woo back Phoebe - even getting down on one knee to propose to her.

But it was too late, as Phoebe's storyline saw her decide to leave their romance in the past and continue her romance with Mike.

Leading up to the finale, the funny woman tied the knot with Mike in The One With Phoebe's Wedding episode.

However, Friends bosses have now revealed Phoebe nearly got back with her ex in scenes which would have changed the ending of the epic series.
