Messages have flooded in for a dad-of-four who has been placed in an induced coma in Mexico.
Paul McKenna was due to fly home with his family on Sunday, August 21, with his wife, Amy, four children and parents-in-law, but the 33-year-old suddenly suffered a suspected seizure in his hotel room before hitting his head on the floor the day they were due to fly back to the UK. Since the incident, Paul has been transferred to three hospitals and is believed to have either suffered a brain haemorrhage or a stroke, with him currently in an induced coma and on life support.
The electrician from Bootle is now stranded an hour outside of Cancun, with his close friends organising a fundraiser to raise as much money for the family to pay for medical bills and accommodation for the family who are currently looking to rent somewhere more permanent while he recovers in hospital.

James Stanley, a close friend of Paul, told the ECHO : "We're devastated. He's a brilliant fella and he'd help everyone, like last year during a storm I had some damage to my house and he came out to help straight away. We lost our chairman at Maghull Cricket Club who did everything [at the club] and Paul picked up all the slack.
"He does all the things around there. He's really well-known in the community and everyone's feeling very upset and concerned."
Since the ECHO published the story yesterday, readers have flooded in with well wishes for Paul. One person commented: "Thoughts are with him and his family at this worrying time. I’d donate if I had the spare cash to. I can’t bear think what his family must be going through."
Another said: "Very sad just get him home poor sod."
One person wrote: "How awful. Hope he manages to get home safe and sound where he belongs."
