Friendly terrier needs a new home

Animal welfare experts are appealing for a home for a loving little dog.

Nine-year-old Jack Russell Terrier, Sprout, is currently in foster care through Dogs Trust West Calder.

His carers say Sprout is a bundle of fun who loves his toys.

A spokeswoman for Dogs Trust said: “Sprout will happily bring his human friends his favourite squeaky octopus so they can play together.

“He enjoys running around the garden, fetching his tennis ball or enjoying a game of tug.

“An affectionate boy, Sprout loves the company of his human friends. He is happiest when snuggling up together in bed or on the sofa and can’t resist a gentle scratch behind the ears.

“Originally arriving at Dogs Trust as a stray, Sprout takes time to build trusting relationships.

“He would like for his new family to be at home throughout the day to keep him company. He prefers walking in quiet areas and would like to be the only pet in the home. Sprout is full of character and would make a fantastic addition to an adult-only home of Terrier lovers.”

If you think you could provide a home for Sprout or any of the 50 dogs currently available for rehoming, please contact the West Calder Rehoming Centre on 01506 873459.

You can also follow Dogs Trust West Calder on Twitter @DT_WestCalder and Instagram @dogstrust_westcalder for regular updates on dogs available for rehoming.

West Calder Rehoming Centre is currently recruiting volunteers to help with kennel cleaning, laundry, groundskeeping, maintenance and greeting guests in reception. If you are interested in volunteering, please email Volunteer Coordinator Garry Lee at Garry.Lee@dogstrust.org.uk.

The centre is also seeking new foster carers across the whole of the Lothians and the Scottish Borders to join its Home from Home scheme.

If you could open your home to a foster dog or would like to find out more, please email HFHWestCalder@dogstrust.org.uk.
