Shetland actor Douglas Henshall sparks fury over Queen's 'empty coffin' conspiracy tweet
Shetland actor Douglas Henshall has sparked fury online after claiming the Queen's body is not in her coffin.
The Scots star received backlash on social media after his "shocking" claims as he asked if mourners would still be queuing "if people knew that the Queen isn’t in that coffin".
Furious Twitter users users asked the 56-year-old to "stop spreading lies and conspiracy theories" but Douglas insisted it was a "genuine question" and he was "interested" as he responded.
Man charged after Scots mum and pregnant daughter trapped in 'flat fire attempted murder bid'
A 41 year-old man has been arrested and charged after a flat was allegedly torched in Ayrshire. The alleged early-hours attempted murder bid took place on Russell Drive in Ayr at around 4.30am on Saturday, September 10.
Emergency services, including Police Scotland and Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, raced to the scene of the top-floor flat blaze, where two women were stuck inside. Elsa Hainey, 44, and pregnant daughter, Gemma Wild, 27, were trapped in the property, and had to escape toxic smoke by sheltering on their balcony as flames crept up the main door.
Aberdeen-bound flight redirected to Edinburgh after pilot declares mid-air alert

Flight LM46 took off from Bristol at 9.07pm and was heading for the Granite City, but was unexpectedly diverted to the capital.
The plane redirected to Edinburgh after a 'Squawk 7700' was activated shortly after it crossed the border into Scotland at around 10pm on Thursday. The code signals an emergency onboard.
Scots mum with Long Covid left using wheelchair and crutches
A Scots mum has been left using a wheelchair and crutches after a battle with Long Covid. Aberdeen woman Kate Stott, 36, was running a successful tech company alongside life as a mum-of-three when she caught the virus in March 2020.
The after effects of the disease have gradually impacted every aspect of her daily life and now she has had to shut down her firm BeautyBooker, after suffering severe muscle weakness and fatigue which forces her to sleep for hours every day.
Kate, who won the Scottish Business woman of the Year award in 2019, told the Record: "I was at work one day just before lockdown when I developed swollen glands and lost my sense of taste and smell. But what started out as just a sore throat has completely transformed my world."
DWP issues new £326 cost of living payment update for people who have not received any money
The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has updated online guidance for people claiming Tax Credits who think they qualified for the first part of the £650 means-tested cost of living payment, but have not received any money.
HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) issued automatic payments to eligible claimants receiving Working Tax Credits or Child Tax Credits for £326 between September 2-7. Tax Credit claimants who also receive a means-tested benefit from the DWP should have already received their first cost of living payment in July.
The update on GOV.UK said: “Tax Credits claimants can now let HMRC know if they think they should have had the £326 Cost of Living Payment, but cannot see it in their bank, building society or credit union account.”
