Friday horse racing tips: Epsom Dash winner Dream Composer to win again

Our horse racing tipster looks to continue his good form with three selections from the Coral Summer Festival Ladies Day at Sandown Park.

3.05pm: Dream Composer

Winner last time out, six-year-old gelding Dream Composer won the valuable Epsom Dash, netting connections £50,000. Held up towards the rear of the field, he made smooth headway from the two furlong mark and timed his run perfectly to come through to take the lead late on.

He has won off of higher marks than that last outing, having won off a rating of 96 here at Sandown over 5f in this very race last year. However that Epsom success marked his first ever heritage handicap victory. Raised 5lbs in the handicap for that success, this is race is much easier affair and the form he is currently in he can easily defy that rise in weight to win again.

4.15pm: Lion’s Pride

Four-year-old Colt Lion’s Pride made an impressive start to his career last year. Second on debut, he won a Class 2 novice race in his second outing, beating Middle Earth. His next two races saw him produce a couple of third placed finishes in listed races. Before improving significantly to win one at Kempton Park, beating subsequent Dubai and America Group 1 winner Measured Time.

Only third on reappearance in April and not seen since then, he did however have the misfortune to again bump into some really handy horses. With the winner taking home a French Group 1 since and the second winning a Group 3 here. This race at least on paper is an easier affair than his reappearance run and he is expected to return to winning ways here, having been well prepared for this race.

5.25pm: Cock And Bull

Ironically named three-year-old gelding Cock And Ball was a complete non-entity as a two-year-old, prompting connections to geld him. Massively upped in trip this year he has left his 2023 form well behind, coming first or second in ever run he’s had so far this year.

He delivered his career best performance last time out over course and distance three weeks ago. Held up towards the rear he made steady progress in the home straight and stayed on well inside the final furlong to win. There will be plenty of pace to aim at in this race and it will give him the perfect opportunity for him to win back-to-back races.
