Friday horse racing tips: Billy Loughnane to light up Newmarket

Our horse racing tipster gives his selections from Friday’s evening racing at Newmarket and predicts Billy Loughnane to have multiple winners.

Adoon Valley (5.15pm)

Adoon Valley is a two-year-old filly sired by 7f and 1m Group 1 winning Two Darn Hot, with her mare being a listed winner herself win over a mile and a half. Tried over 6f on debut last week, which was always likely to be a struggle given her pedigree, she nonetheless did well, coming second in a Class 2 Novice Stakes race.

Prominent throughout, sat just behind the subsequent winner, she was ridden from about two furlongs out and stayed on for second, whilst not posing a real threat to the winner. Eased in class fairly significantly and upped in trip to seven furlongs, she should make light work of these to win second time out.

English Harbour (5.50pm)

Three-year-old gelding out of Kingman, English Harbour wasn’t expected to win on debut three months ago, but a few punters did back him as he was sent off 7/1. Towards the back of the field, he made headway from about two furlongs out and gave himself every chance but found Almaqam to good that day. That was a more than respectable result however as Almaqam already had a run under his belt and has won a listed race since.

Only fourth when last seen at Doncaster, May 31. But he can be forgiven that performance as he was fairly keen throughout and once again it was a very hot race with the winner placing in the Sandringham subsequently. This top yard has had plenty of time to fix any slight issues and he should duly bag his first victory at the third attempt.

Rosy Affair (7pm)

Three-year-old filly Rosy Affair has come first or second in all five of her career starts. Second on debut at Lingfield in January, she tied for victory at Chelmsford a month later. After a short break she was tried at five furlongs coming second then first. But she delivered her career best performance when returned to six furlongs here three weeks ago.

Subsequent winner Gutsy Girl was the favourite that day but only came a distant third, leaving today’s repeat opponent Ananda and herself to fight it out. Ananda was well tipped up for the race, including by us and looked for all the world as if she had done enough. But Rosy Affair finished like a runaway train coming up the inside along the rail. She will continue to improve for that performance and the 4lb rise in the weights is unlikely to be enough to stop her from making it four wins out of six.
