Nottingham Forest are interested in Rubin Kazan midfielder Oliver Abildgaard, according to reports.
Steve Cooper is keen to bolster his midfield options ahead of the start of their Premier League campaign next month. However, Forest are not alone in their pursuit for the Denmark international with competition coming from Werder Bremen and Sampdoria.
Although the 26-year-old is contracted to the Russian side for another two years, he could be signed easily. Given Fifa's new rules regarding Russia, he is able to suspend his contract for one year which would mean he could sign for another club for free, as reported elsewhere.

Last campaign, Abilgaard made 20 appearances in the Premier Liga, assisting three times while also captaining the side. Since joining Kazan in 2020 from Danish outfit Aalborg BK, he has gone on to make just under 60 appearances across the two seasons.
Given injuries to Ryan Yates and James Garner having returned to his parent club Manchester United, Cooper is looking to add some depth to his midfield ahead of a demanding season in the top flight.
