Limerick star Cian Lynch has suffered a fresh injury blow ahead of Sunday’s All-Ireland hurling final.
The two-time Hurler of the Year reportedly picked up an ankle injury in training last weekend and has been wearing a protective boot just days before Limerick’s three-in-a-row bid against Kilkenny.
Lynch had only just made his return from a hamstring injury in the semi-final win over Galway in which he was introduced as a substitute late on, 10 weeks after first sustaining the injury in the Munster Championship win over Waterford.

While it was thought unlikely that the 26-year-old would command a starting place this Sunday given his lack of match fitness, this latest setback surely banishes any chance that there was of him working his way back into John Kiely’s first 15 and throws his participation in the final in any capacity into serious doubt.
