Fresh from ‘maternity leave,’ Lil Nas X returns to social media after 3-month hiatus

Lil Nas X is back in action with a spirited return to social media.

The Grammy Award-winning hip-hop superstar came back on Twitter Wednesday after taking a three-month hiatus from all social media, which had caused fans to worry about his unexpected disappearance.

“why are people surprised i’ve been away for so long?” he wrote. “have y’all really never heard of maternity leave?”

The “maternity leave” references the marketing campaign for the release of his debut album, “Montero” last fall, where the pop culture provocateur talked about it being a “baby” he was giving birth to.

To take it one unexpected step further, he even posed with a protruding belly for a maternity photo shoot. And on the day of the album’s released, he filmed a video of him going into labor.

“i’m so happy i’m back on the internet. i missed me so much,” he teased in another post.

The social media darling, who has been nominated for five Grammy Awards this year, got back into full swing and unloaded a barrage of tweets. Teasing new music, he posted an image of two different songs (“Late to the Party,” featuring NBA YoungBoy, and “Down Souf Hoes,” featuring Saucy Santana) and asked, “which one y’all want first?”

Lil Nas X later revealed that his new album is closed to finished before writing, “ok I’ll be honest I haven’t been posting online because I gotta a bbl” – the popular cosmetic surgery procedure known as Brazilian Butt Lift.

The “Old Town Road” chart-topper is scheduled to perform at the 2022 Grammy Awards on April 3.
