Fresh Danilo fitness update emerges after Nottingham Forest injury blow

Nottingham Forest midfielder Danilo has posted an encouraging video after he picked up an injury problem in the defeat to Brentford on Saturday.

The Brazilian has started the Reds’ last seven games, having found his place in Steve Cooper ’s side following his move from Palmeiras in January. The 22-year-old has scored in back-to-back games for the Reds, putting Forest 2-1 up against Brighton before opening the scoring at the weekend.

Forest fell to a dramatic defeat against the Bees, with a 94th minute goal denying Cooper’s side a point, and the Reds were forced to finish the game with 10 men as Danilo could no longer continue. It was subsequently claimed that the highly-rated midfielder could miss the club’s next two games.

Asked about Danilo’s injury after the game, the Forest boss responded: "Danilo is a fantastic athlete, very fit and resilient. He was the one guy we weren't worried about keeping the effort levels for the whole game, so to see him go down and come off was just something we didn't expect."

However, there look to be encouraging signs for Forest after Danilo posted a video of himself running on grass at the training ground. The short clip was accompanied with the caption, “let’s go”, but gave no further indication of when Danilo could next be included in Forest’s matchday squad.

Forest are gearing up for a crucial game against Southampton on Bank Holiday Monday. The Reds will be looking to lift themselves out of the bottom three with a huge win at the City Ground against a Southampton side that are currently six points adrift at the bottom of the table.
